Privacy and local processing

Recording, editing, and export happen on your machine. The browser tools process files locally in your browser. Nothing is uploaded unless you do it yourself.

Local-first promise

Recording, editing, and export run on your computer. The free browser tools on this site process files locally in your browser too. There is no account, no cloud storage, and no upload step in the default workflow. A file only leaves your device when you export, share, or upload it somewhere yourself.

  • Recording, trimming, and export all happen on device.
  • Browser tools run an LGPL FFmpeg build in a Web Worker on your machine. Files are never sent to a server.
  • Third-party components and their licenses are listed on the third-party notices page.

Sensitive content workflow

Privacy is also an editing workflow. Before a recording goes to a customer, teammate, or public channel, give it a manual pass: check for names, emails, addresses, API keys, access tokens, and private URLs.

  • Use the redaction tools to blur or pixelate what should not be visible, then export a clean copy.
  • Keep the original file on your machine and share only the cleaned export.
