Product demo videos

A practical recording workflow for short SaaS demos, product walkthroughs, launch videos, and sales enablement clips.

The problem

Product demos fail when the viewer cannot tell what changed, where to look, or why the feature matters. The workflow should make the screen readable before it tries to look cinematic.

Recommended recording setup

  • Record at 1440p or 4K when text is important, then export to the target platform size.
  • Hide test data, notifications, bookmarks, and unrelated browser tabs before recording.
  • Use one scripted problem, one feature path, and one outcome instead of a full product tour.
  • Keep the mouse calm: pause on the target element before clicking so zoom and cursor polish have clean intent.

  • Use 16:9 for website demos, YouTube, and sales pages.
  • Use 9:16 only when the demo is built for Shorts, Reels, or TikTok.
  • Keep text-heavy demos at 30 fps unless motion clarity is the actual point.
  • Use a short filename that includes product, feature, and date.
